About Xavier

About

Xavier Perry has been in the Information Technology field for almost 20 years. He started his career in New York City, and quickly became the go-to guy for all support needs.

His continual desire to learn and make computer enviroments better has inspired him to design, configure, manage, support and continually optimize a small personal network in his home. This environment consists of 20 systems (2 test servers, FreeBSD firewall, 9 desktops – two of which were built from scratch, 5 notebooks, 1 Microsoft Surface, 1 Chromebook), Ubiquiti wireless access point, shared printer, several Kindles, Android phones, iPhones and Zune devices. The computer systems run one of the following operating systems respectively: Windows 10 Professional, Chrome OS, Ubuntu 18.04, FreeNAS, XCP-NG, Pfsense 2.4, and NethServer.

Xavier Perry continually seeks to develop professionally. He stays abreast of new technologies and grows in knowledge of existing ones by consistently reading various tech sites, taking online IT and Business training courses (O’Reilly Learning Library, Lynda.com, and Udemy), and personal testing. He completed an online course entitled “Linux in the Real World” by known Linux guru and author Jason Cannon. Within this course, testing of many other skills and technologies were explored (Icinga, Graphite, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Rsyslog, and others). Also, he recently completed Coursera’s five course certificate program entitled “Google IT Support Professional Certificate”.

He has been happily married for over eighteen years with six great children. He enjoys reading, learning, good food and technology.
